Afraid 2024 Vegamovies: Release Date, Box Office Collection and Review
This year, horror cinema continues to reveal and release great productions, such as the recent announcement of Never Let Go and future releases such as Trap , Longlegs , Speak no evil , Smile 2 , among others. Now, another film joins this extensive list full of terrifying productions : Afraid .
Afraid promises to deliver a terrifying experience with its intriguing premise and focus on psychological suspense. One of the most talked about and controversial topics today is artificial intelligence (AI), where many criticize that it will cease to be a mere tool to take over all our decisions. The film promises to delve deeply into this growing fear, exploring how AI could become a real and omnipresent threat in our lives.
According to its official synopsis: “In the film, Curtis and her family are selected to test a revolutionary home device: a digital family assistant called AIA. Taking the smart home to the next level, once the unit and all its sensors and cameras are installed in their home, AIA seems to be able to do it all. She learns everyone’s behaviors and begins to anticipate their needs. And she can make sure that nothing — and no one — gets in the way of her family.”
The film is produced by Blumhouse ( Five Nights at Freddy's, M3GAN ) and directed by filmmaker Chris Weitz ( The Golden Compass , Twilight: New Moon ). The cast includes John Cho ( Star Trek , Searching ), Katherine Waterston ( Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them , Inherent Vice ), Havana Rose Liu ( Fighters Club ), Lukita Maxwell ( Unfiltered Therapy ), Riki Lindhome ( Merlina , The Mystery of Silver Lake ) and David Dastmalchian ( Night with the Devil ).
Afraid will be released in US theaters on August 30 and is expected to arrive in Argentine theaters a day earlier.
